Electrocardiogram (EKG) for Kids
At Alliance Pediatrics® of Fort Worth, we are committed to providing comprehensive care for children’s health, including specialized services like electrocardiograms (EKGs). An EKG is a non-invasive medical test that records the electrical activity of your child’s heart. It helps us detect potential heart issues, such as irregular heartbeats or other abnormalities, that may not be noticeable during a routine physical exam.
How EKG works
The EKG monitoring process is quick and painless. During the test, small electrodes are placed on your kid’s chest, arms, and legs. These electrodes capture the heart’s electrical signals, which are then displayed as a graph. Our team ensures that your child feels comfortable and at ease throughout the procedure.
Expert interpretation by pediatric cardiologists
Once the EKG is completed, it is reviewed by your physician and if they see anything abnormal they send it to be review by a certified Pediatric Cardiologist. This specialist analyzes the results to ensure an accurate diagnosis and determine if further heart testing or treatment is necessary. Our goal is to ensure your child’s heart health is monitored correctly and the correct treatment (if needed) is provided.
When is an EKG needed?
An EKG might be recommended if your child is experiencing symptoms such as chest pains, palpitations, shortness of breath, or if there is a family history of heart conditions. It is also a useful tool in pre-sports physicals or before surgeries to assess heart function.
At Alliance Pediatrics® of Fort Worth, your child’s well-being is our top priority. If you have any concerns about your child’s heart health or would like more information about our EKG services, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
